In 1984, the Red Cross used Tepezcohuite as a treatment for more than 5,000 burn victims from a Mexico City gas explosion, due to its skin healing and antimicrobial properties. The results were so effective at regenerating the skin that Tepezcohuite eventually became known as the skincare miracle.
